Today it’s been raining and raining and raining all day. I LOVE rain, so I’m a happy camper!
However, what do you do on a Friday night after it’s been raining all day?
You take your kids to Taco Bell, of course!
Fancy finding a Taco Bell here in Andalucía. Well, I love Mexican food and even though this clearly isn’t the authentic real deal, it’s still pretty yummy. Fancy planting a Taco Bell in one of those picturesque historic buildings in downtown Malaga, though.
And what do you do after dinner?
Well, since my life isn’t exactly comparable to James Bonds’, we can conform ourselves to a quiet stroll.
We can see the river is quite swollen up after the rain.
I would’ve liked to delight you by saying that my kids had a wild time goofing off on our stroll, but…… they’re just not that kinda kids! We had a nice tête-à-tête however. Something about this fresh, rain-washed night air seems to loosen their tongues, so that they speak about what’s on their minds.

Hi Heidi! Thank you so much for dropping by my blog! 😀 Actually, it’s quite a paradox but I’d never been to a Taco Bell before they plunked one here in Malaga. I don’t think they were even present in Canada, I know the last time I visited (about 5 years ago) I hadn’t seen any. American things probably take almost as long to move into Canada as they do to get to Spain.

Woah – the river certainly is swollen after all the recent rain. I don´t think I´ve ever seen it so full!
Personally, I don´t like to see huge multinational chains like Burger King, Taco Bell and McDonalds moving into the high streets of any Spanish city. I´ve seen them all around the world, in some very traditional places (like Hong Kong or Bangkok) and to me they look so out of place – but I guess I can understand that kids might like them.
To me, the original “fast food” in Spain is tapas!

I do remember seeing American fast food restaurants sitting on quaint, narrow, historic streets in other European cities and they did seem very odd and out of place, like a mismatched shoe, but I think I’ve gotten used to seeing them in Spain and don’t notice them much anymore.
But mmmhhh, tapas, I love tapas! My kids don’t! They hate the ritual (sitting around and chatting more than eating), they don’t care much for the food (a hamburger fills their large tummies a whole lot more than a little dish). I’ve heard Gambrinus (I think it was) has a special offer on Wednesday nights though, where you can get all you can eat tapas for a fixed rate of 5€. I haven’t tried it out (it’s a school night) but might be worth a try – anything’s worth a try if it gets my son’s 4 bottomless stomachs filled up! But I find the tapas in Malaga really can’t compare to the ones in Granada or Almeria, now THOSE are TAPAS!
I practically used to live off of tapas before I had kids. (Now I think I live mostly off of pasta hehe!)
